Sometimes called MilSim Airsoft is a sport unlike any other. While it does share many similarities with paintball, it is in fact, much safer. MilSim, or Military Simulation, has grown from the days of using painball markers to using airsoft replicas in order to achieve a more realistic experience. Airsoft replicas look and feel very much like their real world ounterparts. However, they shoot a 6mm plastic or bio-degradable BB at velocities between 250 feet per secont and around 400 feet per second. With the much reduced weight of the BBs, when compared to the .68 caliber paintballs, the kenetic energy they carry is only a fraction of that of a paintball. Hence, the much reduced chances for injury. In addition to this, very specific safety rules are in place at most airsoft events and fields further increases the safeness of the sport.
